The Story of The Self School

The Story of The Self School 2018-01-18T01:25:32+00:00

The story of The Self School starts with you.

The #1 Regret

I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

Can You Relate?

This is the number one regret of people who are dying, according to Bronnie Ware. I know from my own experience that living the “shoulds” or expectations of others is so common and it holds us back from being (or even knowing) who we are.

A Surprising Statistic

Did you know that 95% of people think they’re self-aware, but only 10-15% truly are?

Food for Thought

In her research, psychologist Tasha Eurich learned that the majority of people think they’re self-aware, but only a few truly are. This speaks to the need for self discovery, especially since self awareness impacts your success in life.

A Frustrating Fact

You've heard that 92% of people don't achieve their goals.

Ever Wonder Why?

Is it possible that most people don’t achieve their goals because they don’t really know themselves . . . what they actually want . . . what holds them back and causes them to self-sabotage . . . and who they truly are?

Just click on, or hover over, each box to learn more.

What do you think or feel when you read these statements?

Do they resonate?

And what about the fears that are so common for women? The ones you hear on repeat in your head?

  • I’m not good enough.
  • I feel like a fraud.
  • What if they think . . . ?
  • Who am I to do that?
  • What if I get it wrong?

All of these reasons (and more below) are why I created The Self School.

The Self School is a learning experience.

A journey (full of cool field trips, even).

A process of discovery.

To help you learn all about your unique self.

So you can live a life true to yourself and achieve the things you want.

The Story of The Self School Also Starts With Me

The story of The Self School starts way back in the day (seriously, it was about 1984).

When I was doing my psychology degree, I realized my passion was actually religious studies.

I took every course I could related to that (and I was totally into spirituality before that, too).

I didn’t think, at the time, that I could change majors.

So, I didn’t.

But that passion stayed with me all my life and I kept learning informally.

After my psychology degree, I went into elementary education for practical reasons, but teaching in that context didn’t suit me.

After a while, I started a masters in world religions and intercultural studies in order to teach adults at the college level. I had to stop . . . again for practical reasons.

I also started a business focused on self discovery.

And I dreamed of doing a spiritual world tour as I call it, and getting an experiential PhD from travelling the world and experiencing the world’s religions, cultures and spiritual practices first-hand. I was going to write a book about the concept of the self in the world’s religions (that was the start of my idea about The Self School).

I looked back on those things and wished that I had done things differently.

That I had followed my passions.

But, instead of focusing on what I should have done, I’m doing it all now . . . just in a different way . . . in The Self School.

The Self School is an experience where you’ll learn all about the self . . . your unique self, and what the world’s religions and spiritual belief systems have to say about the idea of the self.

More on that later.

For now, you can get started by discovering your archetype.

So, Who Am I & Why Can I Help You?

Leanne ChesserI’m Leanne.

I’m the creator of The Self School.

I’m a coach and a spiritual teacher.

And I help you discover, love and express your true, unique self.

Because it’s the foundation for everything.

And because it has been one of my hugest lessons.

I’ve been on a journey my whole life of learning who I uniquely am, coming to know I am good enough, and learning how to overcome fear so I could express who I am in my life and business.

Now, I’ve created The Self School to help you do the same.

Because the fear of not being good enough is the HUGEST fear among women and it hurts me to my core.

And because I’m called to serve this way. It’s my purpose.

Plus . . .

A friend of mine once described me by saying,

“You take all this information and go like this.” She moved her pointer finger around and around in a spiral shape, getting closer and closer to the center. She continued, “Then you say, ‘That!'” She then pointed her finger into the center of the spiral.

The Self School

It’s true. And it lets me create simple, cool and awesome courses for you all about:

  • the self
  • your unique self
  • and what the world’s religions and spiritual beliefs have to say about the self

All in The Self School.
